We took our K1200S on a 4-hour trip (okay, we did lots of stops along the way!) to Waterton Lakes National Park. Our leather gears coupled with Freeze-out underlayments proved to be a comfortable addition to our trip.

Waterton Lakes National Park is considered to be the most stunning of the Rocky Mountain Parks. Prairie and lofty mountains meet in an unusual combination of landscapes and habitats. We also enjoyed the peaceful walks and dining in this tiny Waterton community. It is common to see wild animals roam the town or even occupy someone else's frontyard.

Red Rock Canyon
About 15km from town through rolling prairies and twisties. The canyon offers loop trails in the midst of strikingly colored red rocks.

Akamina Parkway
About 16km from town up the Cameron Valley to glacier-formed Cameron Lake. Access to the road leading to the lake still had snow at the ditches when we got there. In fact, the lake itself was still frozen.

Cameron Falls
Just right in Waterton town!

Bears Hump
With an elevation of 1778m, we wanted to climb it that day to get a nice aerial view of the town but it was way too windy that day. Ah well, next time we visit Waterton again!

Had a nice stay at the Bayshore Inn with a room directly overlooking the lake and the mountains...
