Sun Jul 30 14:00:00 MDT 2017 - 30Jul2017 - Bragg Creek Kananaskis

Responding to His creation with wonder. We are awed by nature's beauty. It is a gift, and it carries responsibility with it...

He created beauty to declare the existence of His holy Being. Most people rush past these proclamations without giving them a second thought.

Sun Jul 16 23:20:00 MDT 2017 - 16Jul2017 - Calgary Stampede Finale

After a great supper, we cozied up to watch the official closing of Stampede from up close - and better yet, watch the Grandstand's Fireworks Finale!

The Calgary Stampede is called the greatest Outdoor Show for good reason. For 10 days every July we welcome the world to a spectacular celebration of western heritage and values, attracting more than a million visitors with rodeo competitions, live music & concerts, chuckwagon races, a carnival, festival events, arts and culture. Each night's rodeo event is followed by the TransAlta Grandstand Show starring musical performances and a spectacular fireworks show.

@Dave & @Alyssa: Thank you for the great supper and the awesome view from your place. We had an awesome time!

Sun Jul 9 17:00:00 MDT 2017 - 09Jul2017 - Moraine Lake Rock Pile Climb

Moraine Lake is a glacially-fed lake in Banff National Park just 1.5hours from home. Moraine Lake is one of our favorite spots to visit. With its vivid turquoise color that changes shade and intensity through summer, it is surrounded by mountains, rock piles, and waterfalls creating a scene so stunning beyond compare.

Today, we thought of venturing of climbing the Rock Piles, not from the front (cause that is way too hard) but taking the leisurely route from the back! Cool

Sun Jul 9 00:00:00 MDT 2017 - 09Jul2017 - Cascade Falls Hike

Packed up our camera gears and hiked a short trail up the base of Cascade Falls. This is a steady climb with lots of loose gravel along the trail (proper hiking shoes is recommended as the climb may be at times easy but the descend later may be a different story!). The hike is short but rather steep as we climb up quickly to the base of the waterfall. Once up the base of the falls, you are greeted with a panoramic view of the valley, the highway, the town of Banff and Mount Rundle on the background.

Perhaps, as its name implies, water cascades down the mountain cliffs, roughly 300m down. The base of the falls is usually run over with avalanches until late spring.

Mon Jul 3 00:00:00 MDT 2017 - 03Jul2017 - Backyard

Our backyard retreat in full bloom again: This section of our home plays a special place in our hearts, our preferred place to retreat, relax and unwind - a labor of love...

Sat Jul 1 00:00:00 MDT 2017 - 01Jul2017 - Canada 150th Celebrations

We started Canada Day/150th Celebration activities earlier in Calgary, then off to Galena Bay, Nakusp, Castlegar, and then on July 1st in Osoyoos, and then finally closing it with fireworks over the mountain peaks in Banff!

What a feat! All 1,620Kms of it!

In Osoyoos, we got caught in the middle of the town parade celebrations and was not able to leave earlier. But the smoldering +35C of heat did not stop us from venturing miles of orchards, lakes, and mountain views -- all that in our cabriolet. Top-down, under the heat. Did not bother with the air conditioning either! We love the heat (so we think!) Hopefully our sunblock did its job...

As we approached the border of Alberta, the mercury has now dropped down to a cool +28C. What a change that is! By the time we hit Banff, just few minutes before the fireworks celebrations, it already had dropped down to a chilling +17C.

This long weekend surely was a celebration to remember...
