Thu Apr 16 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 16Apr2015 - Day 6 - Western Caribbean Cruise

Day 6  Today we hit the cozy island of Cozumel, Mexico.

The port of Cozumel seem to be very busy when we got there in the morning. By the time we were docked, there were already 3 other cruise ships right beside us.  We took some time to visit the stores and gift shops right off the Customs gates.

The night before, we were handed 2 special dinner reservations at The Solarium, compliments of the Manager of the Icon Grill. And yes, there is definitely a difference dining at these kind of restaurants. You pay extra for the ambience, the quiet dinner, and of course the food -- not that the food at the other places are bad at all!

For evening entertainment, we had reservations at the Opal Theater (Decks 5 & 4) for the Fly With Me show. That was also another great show!

Wed Apr 15 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 15Apr2015 - Day 5 - Western Caribbean Cruise

Day 5 Our Filipino waiters already warned us the night before about what the menu will be at the Icon Grill -- lobsters!

Tonight was another party night! After dinner we headed straight to Deck 5 to the Royal Promenade for the 70's Disco Inferno Street Party. This is THE party to be. Boogie down, do the hustle and shake your booty as we groove to the greatest hits of the 1970's. That was the biggest dance party on the high seas!

10PM, we headed back to Studio B at Deck 4 to watch the Frozen In Time Ice Show. This is the whimsical world of author Hans Christian Andersen as it comes to life in this breathtaking ice show. Featured classic fairy tales such as "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid" and more.

Tue Apr 14 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 14Apr2015 - Day 4 - Western Caribbean Cruise

Day 4 10:30AM - got to Falmouth, Jamaica: the Caribbean's Georgian-style gem . Once a major port in the 18th and 19th centuries, this Jamaican town grew incredibly wealthy off of sugar production. Ships laden with sugar and rum would leave for Britain daily, just as others would arrive with slaves. It was a n age of prosperity and sophistication, marked by the splendid Georgian-style "Great Houses" still perfectly intact today. On the other hand, it was an economy entirely dependent on the slave trade - an age of inhumanity overshadowed by great fortune. All that came to an end with the Emancipation in 1840 and today, it's as if time stands still in colonial Falmouth.

Evening entertainment booked tonight. Headline showtime at Opal Theater - Kenny James is one of LA's most popular and soughter after entertainers. Kenny is best known to TV audiences for his amazing thirteen consecutive winning appearances on the hit syndicated show, Star Search, for which he won the $100,000 grand prize for Male Vocalist. Kenny co-wrote and performed with saxophone great Tom Scoot on the award winning album Target for Atlantic Records. His versatility as a singer, sonwriter and actor have taken him to venues around the world and he has been the featured performer at Radio City Music Hall, The Roxy, Atlantic City, Las Vegas to name a few.

Mon Apr 13 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 13Apr2015 - Day 3 - Western Caribbean Cruise

DAY 3 By 8AM, we were already docked at the private port of Labadee, Haiti.

Today we  explored this little island of Labadee, enjoyed the entertainment, tours, the food. and the beach. Sunny, bright and hot day! By 2 in the afternoon, we were already back at the ship for cold breaks and decided to hangout for the rest of the afternoon at the upper decks -- watching the activities down below.

By 6PM, we were back at sea again heading to Falmouth, Jamaica. Before dinner, we hang out at the Solarium waiting for the sun to set.

Entertainment: We ended the day at the Comedy Live exiting laughing from this show. Starring Barry Diamond & Ron Josol (a Filipino stand-up comedian).

Sun Apr 12 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 12Apr2015 - Day 2 - Western Caribbean Cruise

Day 2 At Sea. Enroute to Labadee, Haiti.

Getting to  know the world's largest ship a little more: enjoying a leisurely walk through the ship's Central Park and its shops, the Promenade and the Boardwalk areas and of course the public pools scattered around at the upper decks, the Solarium and its cantilevered hot tubs (cantilevered over the ocean), the fitness and Spa, the Opal theater and other entertainment venues, then the restaurants, and the various activities and entertainment throughout the ship. We've already prebooked our evening entertainment like Broadway's Cats, Kenny James concert, Comedy Live, Aqua Theater show, and Come Fly With Me show but we visited Guest Services today to do additional entertainment reservations like the Frozen in Time ice show. We've also reserved our evening dinings. We already preset our dining to "My Time Dining" where we can reserve dining any time (instead of the fixed 2 seatings). We also prepaid our gratuities.

Tip of the Day: Central Park on Deck 8, is Oasis' floating park at sea. It has 12,000 plants and 56 trees.

Sat Apr 11 00:00:00 MDT 2015 - 11Apr2015 - Day 1 - Western Caribbean Cruise

This is the start of our western Caribbean cruise aboard one of the largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. This is is also our first on this ship.

Oasis of the Seas was constructed out of 500,000 individual parts. The AquaTheater pool is 17.9 feet (5.4 m) deep, making it the deepest pool at sea. It took 3,200 construction workers and 8000 work years to build the ship. In addition, the Oasis of the Seas' 24 dining options, guest have 20 bars and lounges to choose. 7,000 works of art were specially commissioned for Oasis of the Seas.

The Oasis of the Seas is truly a one-of-a-kind ship, accommodating over 5,000 passengers. Eighteen decks high, this ship has more than enough to offer any guest. Travel between the seven neighborhoods that divide the ship, experiencing something unique in each. In Central Park, we can peruse the art gallery or unwind in the sophisticated wine bar. Or for the more adventurous spirits, the Boardwalk offers the world's first onboard carousel and zipline, as well as two rock-climbing walls and two FlowRider wave simulators. We can also treat ourselves at the Boardwalk Donut Shop or the Ice Cream Parlor. The heart of the ship lies in the Royal Promenade, with a variety of dining and entertainment options. It features Rising Tide: a levitating bar that ascends and descends over three decks.

When ready to indulge our appetites, we can choose from numerous dining options including Chops Steak House, Sorrento's Pizzeria, Seafood Shack and Johnny Rockets, just to name a few. There is Starbucks in the Promenade, if we need to indulge with our favorite brand. The DreamWorks Experience is also featured on every sailing, and includes character parades and photo opportunities, character meals, 3-D movies in the ship's onboard theater and a dedicated DreamWorks channel in each stateroom. Evening entertainment in the grand Opal Theater included the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Cats. Other featured shows are Come Fly With Me and a Kenny James concert. The Aqua Theatre has the Oasis Dreams Aqua Show and also fountain shows.
