Mon Jun 30 20:00:00 MDT 2014 - Canada Day Long WeekEnd - Ride the Week Out - Day 1

For our long weekend getaway, we chose the scenic route of Highway 93 or Banff-Windermere Highway to Radium Hot Springs, up into Kootenay National Park and then through Sinclair Canyon. A short shower along the way made it a little cold as the temperatures dropped to +12C at times. However, we made sure we were dressed ready for this as we packed both thermal (freeze-out and heat-out underlayers) and rain gears with us.

After a day in Radium Hot Springs, we then proceeded to Golden via Highway 95, a 105-Km stretch along the Columnia River and valley floor. This stretch of this highway was all to ourselves. It felt strange yet releasing as if the road was made just for us -- just the occassional revs and roar of the K1200S as we navigate through twisties and hills, always on the lookout for wildlife.

Locations: Radium Hot Springs, Sinclair Canyon
Total Km:   365Km

Sun Jun 8 22:18:11 MDT 2014 - Mile Zero Starts Here at Highway 93 - Jasper, Day 2

Day 2 Jasper. Mile Zero starts here at the famous Highway 93 -- and there's no better way to experience it but on a motorbike, with an unobstructed view of the scenery that surround you – the wildlife, majestic mountains, icefields and glaciers (and yes, there are about 100 glaciers here!), lakes, canyons, hot springs, waterfalls...

Three words: Unspoiled. Majestic. Breathtaking

Stops & Locations: Town of Jasper, Town of Hinton, Maligne Canyon, Columbia Icefields - The Glacier Skywalk

One Special Sidetrip: a Tour at the newly opened $21M Glacier Skywalk (opened in May 1st, 2014), a cliff-edge glass walkway that hovers 280m over the Sunwapta Valley. This is a dare-me thing for me as I conquer my fear of heights.

Sat Jun 7 09:09:00 MDT 2014 - Mile Zero Starts Here at Highway 93 - Jasper, Day 1

National Geographic rates the Icefield Parkway as one of the "10 Greatest Drives in the World". Mile Zero starts here at the famous Highway 93 – and there's no better way to experience it but on a motorbike, with an unobstructed view of the scenery that surround you – the wildlife, majestic mountains, icefields and glaciers (and yes, there are about 100 glaciers here!), lakes, canyons, hot springs, waterfalls...

Three words: Unspoiled. Majestic. Breathtaking.

Daytime forecast was calling for a high of 17C but as soon as we hit the icefields area, temperatures started dipping down to 8C. Now that is very cold when you're riding a bike -- even with our already 3 layers of thermal underlayers! Note to ourselves: we will definitely invest on heated underlayer jackets!

Locations: Bow Glacier, Columbia Icefields, Tangle Falls, Sunwapta Falls, town of Jasper
