Fri Nov 12 00:00:00 MST 2010 - 2010 Playa del Carmen - Around the Town

Playa del Carmen is a cosmopolitan town located about 45 minutes South of Cancun in the heart of Mexico's Mayan Riviera. The town is small enough where you can walk just about anywhere you need to go.

Our afternoon visits included browsing the many shops and markets, strolls at the beach, and fine Mexican dining along 5th Avenue - downtown's pedestrian walkway. After dinner, there were plenty of fun bars along the beach and along 5th Avenue, watched live music over margaritas and pina coladas.

Tue Nov 9 00:00:00 MST 2010 - 2010 Playa del Carmen - Cancun Sunset Dinner Tour

Took a romantic sunset dinner on a ship in Cancun but did not expect a birthday bash on board. Had an awesome time with people I did not even know! Awesome live music (sax), awesome entertainment, awesome lobster and steak, awesome drinks -- and that's open bar! Awesome time!

That night, I ended up matching several shots of tequilla for each birthday toast! To top it up, I had to do a solo dance for everybody. Around the stage! Around the mast! That was a blur!

Sun Nov 7 00:00:00 MDT 2010 - 2010 Playa del Carmen - Chichen Itza and Cenote Tours

These tours include visits to one of the seven wonders of the world, Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins, and the Cenotes.

  • Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins - Considered now as one of the new 7 wonders of the world, which means at the mouth of the well of Itza. It is considered the most famous, spectacular, and, consequently, most frequently visited of Mexico’s Mayan sites, the magnificent metropolis of Chichén Itzá was the principal ceremonial center of the Yucatán.
  • Cenotes - The natural wonders of the Yucatan Peninsula are countless, but some of the most unique to the area are the cenotes. Cenotes are created by an underground river system and are fresh water sink holes that the Maya considered to be sacred. In addition they were an incredibly important resource as a fresh water source, and the Mayans also believed they were the entrance to the underworld.

Fri Nov 5 00:00:00 MDT 2010 - 2010 Playa del Carmen - Our Morning Routines

Our morning routine consists of heading out to the gym for a workout, followed bya stretching class by the beach (and did I say a short massage after that???), then a short jog by the beach, and the use of the Spa facilities.

I luv being a beach bum!
