Sun Jan 4 00:00:00 MST 2009 - 2009Jan Mayan Riviera Mexico - 1

This is our first in an El Cid Resort. We were amazed at how clean, and how well this resort was run. The food was excellent. Our kids thought that the 24Hr Rm Service was terrific. We were pampered in luxury and service from a range of amenities, four tantalizing gourmet restaurants to a day treat in the spa, to nightly entertainments. Our 2bedroom suite was like a house with a living room and dining in the middle--more than enough to be called grande to my standards.
This All-Inclusive Resort invites you to experience the best of the Mayan Riviera located in a secluded fishing village of Puerto Morelos, boosts gourmet restaurants, coffee shop, 4 bars, a state-of-the-art spa, convention center, a magnificent pool, a full-service 120-slip marina, a nearby golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, boutiques and gift shops, kayaking and catamarans to boating/fishing expeditions.

The town of Puerto Morelos: the tradition of fishing for a living still survives and the boom in tourism is on the rise. Here the prices are lower, the pace is slower and the atmosphere is laid back. There is a zocalo (town square) in the center of town with few stores, a dive shop and some restaurants along its perimeter. Just off the zocalo is Pelicanos offering a nice view of the Caribbean and good food. The main fishing pier and the lighthouse are the primary points of interest, with friendly locals and some good photo opportunities.
